How many subjects should we enrol into at the EMEA School?

How many subjects does My Online Schooling recommend we enrol into depending on the year group, for the EMEA School?

Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6)
Key Stage 2 is offered as a mandatory core curriculum package of 8 subjects, and includes a strong focus on cross-curricular learning. This gives pupils exposure to a range of experiences that reflect both a discipline-field and an interdisciplinary orientation. The package includes the following subjects:

English
Reading
Maths
Science
Humanities
PSHE
Creative Arts
1 Language (Spanish, French, Arabic or Mandarin)

Additional Subjects:
Computing
Additional Language choice

Pupils also have the opportunity to be referred to the Thrive Group by their classroom teacher. The Thrive Group is a small group instruction class, suitable for pupils who have been identified as needing additional support in literacy and numeracy areas.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
We would recommend English, Maths and Science as core subjects, which are taught for 2 x 1 hour lessons per week. All non-core subjects are taught for 1 x 1 hour lesson per week.

We would recommend:
A minimum of 2 Humanities subjects (Geography, History or Computer Science)
1 Language (Spanish, French, Mandarin or Arabic)
A minimum of 2 Art and Enrichment subjects (Art, Design Technology, PSHE, KS3 Digital Skills, Drama*, or Psychology^)

*Only available for Year 8 and 9
^Only available for Year 9

Learning and Wellbeing support classes are also available.

Key Stage 4 (International GCSE) - Years 10 & 11
We would recommend that pupils take 8 to 10 International GCSE subjects. All subjects are taught for 2 x 1 hour lessons per week, apart from Double Award Science which is taught for 3 x 1 hour lessons per week.

We would recommend:
A minimum of one English (Language or Literature)
Either Higher or Foundation Maths
A minimum of 2 Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Double Award Science
A minimum of 1 Humanities subject (Geography, History, Citizenship Studies* or Computer Science)
A minimum of 1 Language (French or Spanish)
A minimum of 1 Art and Enrichment (Business Studies, Economics, Psychology*, Astronomy* or Art Silver Award)

*UK pupils only

Learning and Wellbeing support classes are also available.

Key Stage 5 (AS/A-Levels) - Years 12 & 13
Pupils at this stage can either complete their AS Levels, which take one year, or A-Levels which take two years. At this stage we recommend pupils take 3 to 4 subjects, which are all taught for 3 x 1 hour per week.

We recommend choosing subjects that students were successful in at GCSE / International GCSE level, as otherwise, the A Level course may prove to be quite challenging.

Learning and Wellbeing support classes are also available.
